Relatively quick 4 hour flight from Dallas took
us to a paradise of endless fun, beach, pools and parties, with unlimited alcohol, we couldn’t ask for more.
Of course the kids had their drinks virgin.
Arriving to Paradise
Upon landing at the Punta Cana airport, we found our self in the immigration line, which was like in Disney, so plan ahead for your arrival day as a “wasted day”.
Shared transfer which was complimentary added another hour until we reached our destination.
Picking the right resort wasn’t an easy task.
Since we came with children the Adults only were out of the question, of course.
After a short google search for resorts in Punta Cana , Facebook was kind enough to add dream vacation offers to my feed, with amazing promotions
After cross check with google reviews and TripAdvisor, #RiuBambu was chosen.
Apparently Riu has several resorts in the same area all connected sharing a water park and pool party area.
We had a blast, 8 nights of endless fun, with an amazing entertainment crew Link.
Important note that Dominican Republic is an affordable vacation. Resorts , excursion and diving are relatively cheap.
Not sure where you can find an amazing dive for 50$.
The beach has lots of seaweed but they do great job cleaning it.
A very recommended excursion, 1 hour by bus and 25 min via boat brought us to the amazing Isla Catalina, a day trip only island.
The boat stopped for an unforgettable dive and snorkeling option and additional dive was offered after dropping the non-divers on the island. Link
White sands, amazing lunch, drinks of course and small local shops made it a special day.
We met a unique couple from a destination I never heard about, Isle of Wight in England, which host a huge music festival every summer ,so found #mynextdestination
Riu Pool Parties
I have been to several pool parties but unlike the one in Vegas, here the alcohol was free which made a huge difference, to be precise, 3 open bars for 150 people …
There was a theme for each party, white , Neon , Pink …
The Riu entertainment team with the DJ gave an amazing show, together with the foam, we had a blast.Link
D. Republic tips
Safety – unfortunately there were some events in the news, but we felt safe. No locals were able to access the resort and we had security in the Island during our excursion.
Tips – not needed, but few $ at the buffet or at the bar , made sure I get my drinks before others …
Shopping – we didn’t spend much time shopping but I love to buy at the small shops on the beach. They will offer free gifts to get you in their shop, so why not. You can find nice souvenirs and their local drink called Mamajuana.
The stores at the hotel are very expensive, so bring extra shampoo (wasn’t good in our hotel) and sun screen as it goes fast there.
8 nights were just right, consider first day was for traveling and half of the last day.
